Honest answer: between Brz and the Miata, MX-5 aka Miata will be the better choice. Convertible is probs not what you need but with a hardtop it will be no different. A newer models are heaps better keeping the weather out and the warmth in. BRZ is a slow drift car running on thin tires. well, either the top isn't sitting right, or you need to do some adjustment. Those chromed bars which hold your soft top rubber can be loosened up and moved closer towards the outside of the car. Also, if it's an NA and the window guides are broken, the window might not be rolling up to it's proper place.
The hard top is a complicated bit of kit which is Japanese reliable but costly and inconvenient when it does go wrong. You'll tend to leave the hard top on more as it takes a while to go up and down. My advice with a UK car is to get one that has been under seal treated or one that is rust free and then get it treated.
